This plate was made for Droste by De Porceleyne Fles in 1940 to celebrate the 50th jubilee for Droste NV. The inscription on the back translates "Dross's cocoa and chocolate factory, Inc. Haarlem, Holland. This plate is considered rare with a rating of 2 out of 5, with 1 being the rarest and 5 being the least rare.
Each piece made carries the full factory markings, which includes the factory mark, item number, artist's initials. The painter is Thomas Van Arum who worked for the factory from 1890 to 1945.
This plate measure a little over 7 inches across. On the top edge on the back are 2 tiny chips. Does not show from the front. There is some crazing which is not unusual for older Delft.
